With over 60,000 organisations delivering services to Australia’s most vulnerable communities, employing around 1.3 million Australians and accounting for almost a tenth of the economy, the not-for-profit (NFP) sector is not fit for a digital future. ​​

With ongoing fallout from Covid-19, combined with cost-of-living pressures and impacts from climate change, the sector is experiencing unprecedented demand for services while managing increased operational expenses. When compared to the private and public sector, NFPs are missing out on the benefits of new technology – they are quickly falling behind. 

To be effective, the NFP sector must be able to leverage digital technologies to improve productivity and efficiency (automation and AI), measure impact (data analytics and modelling), and protect itself from cyber risks and crime.

We're a not-for-profit social enterprise that has been delivering technology for social justice for over 30 years. With over 160 staff across Australia and New Zealand, we tackle the biggest social challenges through the smart and creative use of technology.

We work with community, government and corporate partners to solve issues around homelessness, family violence, mental health and disability, as well as supporting Indigenous communities, women, youth and families.

Our products and services are used by over 35,000 government and community services. We provide the right tools to improve efficiency and deliver greater impact – from nation-wide service coordination systems to IT advice for individual organisations.

And through our work in digital inclusion and social innovation we use technology to empower people experiencing disadvantage, driving social inclusion and creating stronger communities. We believe no-one should be left behind in today’s digital world. 

In 2023, we made real impact:

- We delivered $195 Million dollars of discounted and donated technology to not-for profits via our Connecting Up program.

- We logged over 7 millions searches on our nationwide service directory of over 450,000 service listings, including 4.2 Millions searches logged on our social support search platform, Ask Izzy. 

- Our client and case management system was used by over 5,000 organisations with 7.9 million client records held and over 470,000 electronic referrals were sent for people needing support during the year.

- Over 35,000 community organisations were supported by our range of technology services, including managed IT services, client and case management, donated technology, service directory and referral and free expert advices. 

- Our 2023 Digital Technology in the Not-For-Profit Sector identified the sector's technology , benchmarks, opportunities and challenges. 

- We hosted over 200 community organisations at the Technology for Social Justice Conference, helping to them to learn and keep up to speed on critical technology topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Data, Cyber Security, and Digital Marketing - and followed this up with our NGO Digital Transformation Summit in Singapore to help transform the APAC region.
